Barcelona is my Valentine

I really don't think Valentines is celebrated here
I haven't seen or been able to find one Valentines card or sweetheart tarts (best thing about valentines)
but in true American fashion...

The things I LOVE so far about Barcelona:

-the markets. all of them. produce is so cheap. and don't even get me started on the 50cent baguettes.

-the architecture. walking home from an evening out and running into things like the arc de triomphe .

- cafe con leche. best. coffee. ever.

- the buildings with their little balconettes and terraces. loved them

- cava. spains version of champagne. me encanta.

-outdoor seating everywhere! even mcdonalds has outdoor seating. and people really take advantage of it here. even if it's freezing but there's sun, they're outside enjoying it.

- bike culture. so many bike paths. gonna get me a bike for sure.

- barcelona sunsets. one of these days i'll wake up early enough to see the sunrise.

- my new barcelona friends. i've never had such a international group of friends. meeting people from all over the world in one place. they are good, fun people.
and between our different languages and cultures, learning spanish together is hysterical.

(missing my girlfriends today. cause this was definitely the best valentines memory)

Wow! Glad you are loving Barcelona, it looks absolutely amazing :)

One of my favorite things about studying in foreign countries is meeting all of the incredible exchange students from all over the world - it's so nice be part of such a diverse and fun group of people!

Happy V-day!

Happy Valentine's day, lovely girl! You know, it's always best to have a love story with the place you're in... and let random boys come and go ;) That's how I feel about Japan :)

It looks amazing... the fresh produce, the coffee... the new friends. I'm so happy for you. This will be an exciting time. xx

Finding the positive differences makes being away from home so much easier. Glad you are already meeting people. I have a French class here Wed and we have people from Germany, Vancouver, Victoria, Bosnia, the Dominican and Cuba... I sometimes go Fri morning and the others are from Mexico and Denmark. It is so cool! Thanks for the book tip. I'll look for it when I am somewhere english speaking. Happy Valentine's Day!

We are heading to Barcelona & surrounding areas (my first time) March 24 - April 3. Curious if you have any recommendations on hotels in Barcelona (we're hoping for 100-150 Euro, but with charm!), must hit bars/restaurants, and any side trips around Barcelona? We're planning to go up and see the Dali museum on day, but that's the only "outside of Barcelona" planning we have done. Look forward to hearing back from you!
