Come on in...
Take a load off and catch up on some Spanish tv while looking at that awesome fireplace
Take a nap on my big (but very hard) bed.
Help yourself to my 100lbs of clothes and shoes.
They're happy to be out of suitcases.
You're welcome to cook something on the hot plate (no oven or stove) but don't bring too much food cause it won't fit in the dorm room sized fridge.
The shower jets will be very relaxing after a long day once I figure out how to turn them on.
And don't forget to step out onto the balcony and take in a view of the quaint street and neighboring buildings.
I am one happy happy girl in my little apartment.
To be settled, unpacked, organized and slowly making this home for the year is wonderful.
I've never lived by myself before,
(and probably never will again because of San Francisco's extreme rental market and I love living with my best friends)
so this is my year of getting to have my own little and very cute space.
When I come home from teaching, open up those balcony doors and rest my tired feet while lesson planning... Then cut up fresh fruit, bread and cheese from the market while listening to the old people jabber in Spanish on the street below....

You just made me laugh out loud! Sounds like our apartments (or Spain), has quite a few things in common. The tiny minibar fridges, the hotplates (not sure how I will make pasta and this is a serious issue for me haha).
Don't you just love Spanish tv? I probably had the tv on for like 20min during the entire 2 weeks I've moved in.... and it may partly be the language, or that I don't really know these shows, but I don't really get into it.
That being said, your apartment is seriously awesome! Love the character! Congrats!

Your place is so cute. I love the balcony and fireplace. I did not have the best roommate experiences... So I love living by myself. I enjoy having dinners and having people over without having to ask my roommates if they cared. One of my roommates/friends that was wonderful to live with is my neighbor now. We hang out lots at each others apartments so it's never lonely.
Wo needs a stove when you have that gorgeous balcony and accompanying view?! Incredible apartment - enjoy yourself!

Oh congrats! What a lovely little place. I remember my first time living alone (I only lasted four months) it was pure happiness and freedom and I had so much independence I didn't know what to do with it. Savour it all girl.

So I've mentioned it before...but this is kinda my dream!!
As soon as I grad, I plan on living in Spain (or Chile...but I think Spain is more realistic) for a year. I've been learning Spanish on and off since I was 14 and I just want to get on and KNOW it :)
At this stage maybe as a nanny/au pair? But since I started out my degree in teaching, what you're doing sounds amazing!!!

Nicole, I can't tell you how much I love following your journey... Living alone in Spain was honestly the best time of my life!! Now you just need to find yourself a tall Northern European and we'll officially have parallel lives, ha!
