Mammoth: A White Christmas

We left for Mammoth Christmas day.
{Thank you thank you Apple for inventing the iPad. That was the most peaceful quiet 7 hour car ride we have experienced in the last 5 years. And my mom had a book to read so she was quiet too :p}
Since we moved a lot growing up (houses, cities and states) and I'm now clearly following my mothers gypsy heart,
'home' has always been where my heart is and not a physical place.

That being said, Mammoth is one of the places my heart calls home.
The smell, the feel of the air, the mountain, the town, the same restaurants and stores bring me right back to when I was 5 skiing with my dad till closing time and we had to beg the lift operators to let us go one more time. Getting bribed with hot chocolate to go for a snowy walks into town. My mom yelling at the guy who knocked me down on his snowboard when I was 7. Countless number of runs down the mountain in family snake formations {yes, we were that family} with my mom taking up the rear, yelling at my dad for making us go to fast and taking to much air. Waking up to so much snow, you could walk off the balcony. Card games by the fire in the evenings. Christmases with my grandparents.
Such good memories. And the memories continue.

This year was the first year the boys could really sled on their own. And they were obsessed!
It was so so so cold yet they were still out there sledding till well after dark and begging to get outside every morning.
Shane was talking for weeks that he wanted to go back to Mammoth so he could, "throw a snowball at daddy."

welp, i'm officially homesick after writing this.
and can we talk about my mother's awesome ski outfit. amazing i know.

Oh your Mom's ski outfit makes me giggle --- my Mom had something similar when we were kids although I think her's was more of a bright pink ;)

Mammoth looks so gorgeous and fun!
It's strange to think I'll be so thankful for tablets in the not-so-distant future when it's preventing a little one from asking "Are we there yet? How much longer?" quite as often!

We usually go to Mammoth every year on December 26, and this was the first year in many that we didn't go. Sad! Looks beautiful!
