Same Same but Different

 {San Francisco, California}

{Lisbon, Portugal}

Just got back from a great weekend in Portugal!
My first time ever to the country and it did not disappoint.

Something look familiar in these pictures?!
The Golden Gate Bridge and the 25 de Abril Bridge in Lisbon were constructed by the same company. Except the one in Lisbon has a railroad track on the lower deck (cool)

My expectations were completely exceeded and I have almost all great things to say about Portugal.
We literally ate our way through Portuguese pastries and seafood and then walked it off all over Lisbon and Sintra.

Happy, rejuvenated, travel-hungry, calm and ready for the week ahead!

One thing I learned: There's no better way to become more self-confident in a language you're learning than to go to a country where you can't say or understand a word.  I think I'm going to be walking around with a whole new confidence and happiness in my Spanish abilities.

I spent a weekend in Lisbon while living in Italy...and I remember thinking the exact same thing about the bridges! I loved it there though...and for some reason I was able to understand some Portugese! :)

Since I live in Portugal, it's always exciting to see what people think of the country when they first visit. So glad you enjoyed it!

Stunning pictures! You must do a post on time management! You seem to manage your time so well. How do you do it? You work full-time, right? You study on Saturday's for long hours and you traveled to Portugal all on the same weekend?! You.Rock.!

I am so jealous right now. Portugal looks amazing. One of my girlfriends actually meet her husband on a trip there! And I guess if you are ever feeling home sick you can just head to Portugal and hang by the bridge ; )

That's crazy! If I would have seen just the picture of the Portugal bridge, I would have for sure thought it was the Golden Gate in San Francisco! Crazy!

Sounds like an amazing weekend!

That's so neat. I wasn't aware of the other bridge.

You're totally right about the language. My French is terrible because I can still speak English everywhere here.

Hope you're well. xo

Wow, for a second I really thought the second picture was taken in SF as well! I've never been to Portugal nor have seen much of it in photographs, so I'd be happy to hear/see more about it!

Oh wow. They look exactly the same! Oh and "There's no better way to become more self-confident in a language you're learning than to go to a country where you can't say or understand a word."- wish me luck with this. I will be traveling to Hong Kong and March and I've been trying my very best to learn their language but I get a bit tongue tied. =)

Bridge twinsies! Glad you had such a nice trip! What is next on your travel itinerary?!

How cool to see a little bit of San Fran in Portugal! I had no idea! I'm kicking myself for never making it to Portugal while I was studying in Madrid. I heard wonderful things about it, but just never had time. It's on my "one of these days" list of places to go!

i was just going to say this looks so much like the golden gate bridge! that is so crazy!!

Just by reading your post makes me want to relocate to Portugal. If I would find a property for sale in Portugal and I'll try that one out. I was born in Brazil and I know how to speak Portuguese, I know that I can adapt fast in this country.

Cool! Perhaps I should also try looking out on places with same structure but in different places. I should start up with the Liverpool apartments near my house and something with it in France cause I'll be visiting that this coming summer.

If you didn't put Lisbon, Portugal underneath the picture, I wouldn't even know it isn't the famous bridge! That's so amazing! I hope I get to travel there too.
