Pastéis de Belém (also know as Pastéis de Nata) are famous pastries from Portugal.
Belem is a short 10 min tram ride from the center of Lisbon
where you can go to the famous Pastéis de Belém shop.
We pretty much died and went to heaven after biting into them and trying some other pastries from the shop.
Still kicking myself for not stopping back there and loading up for our flight back to Madrid.
Belém also
has a Monastary, Palace and the Belém Tower, which we would have loved to
visit but were caught in a torrential downpour and had to find cover in an
Italian restaurant on the water (oh darn).

adoro i pasteis de belem, in portogallo ci sono molti dolci ma questo è quello che preferisco!
Your photography is so beautiful! I don't normally crave sweets, but those sound amazing.

They look seriously yummy! I love trying new baked goods when I'm abroad, it's great finding such gems! x

I'm going to be soo fat when I come home from Europe.
those look delicious!! You'll just have to take another trip and get some more :)
When I went to Lisbon with my friends a few summers ago I made them go to that same shop in Belém. I told them it was a MUST because all my Portuguese friends told me to go to Belém and try them. :) They weren't interested in them. So I ate two and then walked around town :) Loved it!!
Wow, these look amazing! Such great photos.
Ah! Amazing. There's a Portuguese place I used to love that served something called "Natas de ceu." I'm sure I'm completely butchering that spelling, but it was a puffy cream made of vanilla wafers and egg. Insane. Track some down if you can!
Ohhh an egg tartlette?! Yep, sounds right up my alley!
The shop looks delicious! The portuguese definitely know how to bake :)
ummm delish!!!! i want one!!!

OMG!!! I am in love with all things pastry!!!
Such stunning photographs x
I always love all of your photos ... LOVE!
i'll be back in lisboa in a few weeks and plan to bring back a BOX full of pasteis. i could probably be persuaded to share one with you, if you're craving them! i've been meaning to come out of google-reader-lurking for a while and make friendly, so consider this vaguely creepy offer my way of finally doing so. (seriously, it sounds so much weirder written down here than it did in my head. totally not meant that way!)

Yumm! Looks so good!
On a trip to Portugal, my friends and I also loved these little pastries, too! Not too long ago I read about a place in Madrid that sells them, and I've been meaning to go. Read about it here: http://www.madridcoolblog.com/2012/11/real-cake-autenticos-pasteis-de-nata-en-madrid/
oh they look like little pies, I bet they were delicious. One think I noticed is that they're different from Brazilian Pasteis, heh, who would have thought.
I hope you enjoy your stay!
When we were in Malaysia, all the shops had Pasteis de Nata! (I think Portugal colonized Malaysia at some point) but there were so delicious!
Oh Nicole! All of your Portugal photos make me miss the country so much! I spent a beautiful weekend there, and made it to some of the places that you've posted about. I hope you enjoyed it and I love that you're falling in love with it as I did!
