Indian Food in Spain

I hate spicy food.
I flail myself into a dramatic scene of blowing the fire out of my mouth, downing water and waving my hand over mouth like I just chugged a bottle of siracha.
I am not a dramatic person, obviously.

Anyways, because of this distain for spicy food I've always avoided Indian food...
until I moved to Madrid.
Thankfully the Spanish are just as sensitive to spice as I am and you basically can't get anything spicy even if you ask for it.
I have absolutely loved going to the Indian restaurants in Lavapies.
I could eat naan, rice and chicken tikka masala every. single. day.

It's nice to be able to take a break from Spanish food and tapas from time to time.

It is my favorite (minus the spice too!) I could easily live on it every day- India here I come, though I'd have to learn how to say mild.

Cheers!

I'm exactly the same way! That's good to know about food in Spain!

I have never tried Indian food either because of the spices. Not a fan of spicy stuff either. This looks good though. Your posts always make me hungry, thirsty or wish I was somewhere else haha

Sí, es verdad, los españoles tememos también lo picante, incluso la comida mejicana, nos puede resultar "unbearable", algunas veces.
Enjoy your Indian food! And I hope you'll also enjoy the "Semana Santa" food: torrijas, pestiños, and so on...

same here! I'm such a contradiction when it comes to food. I love the flavors of Indian and Mexican and Thai foods and the like, but I HATE the spiciness. can't stand it. maybe I just need to move to Spain... ;)

also, chicken tikka is absolutely my favorite ever. yummmm.

I used to hate spicy food - but slowly started like it. Well, no more than 2 stars - so more like mild spicy.

I hate to admit it, but I've never tried Indian food. It's always intimidated me. I do love thai food. And I hear it similar. Maybe one day. I just want to make sure when I do try it- that it's at a good place!

I'm exactly the same way. I only limit myself to 1 or 2 visits to an Indian restaurant every year because I can't handle spicy foods.

I have a love affair with Butter Chicken and Fish Masala.

The Indian in Malta isn't spicy either (the locals also hate hot-spice!) but it is soo good. So much better than the Indian I've had in Canada!

I could eat Palak Paneer and Paneer Makanwhala every day.

same here - cannot handle my spice... at all. and then there's my sister who can practically eat spicy peppers and not bat a lash. mmm but non-spicy indian food sounds divine - i want some curry right now!

oh that looks so amazing!! I've always thought I was really talented at eating spicy foods, but the last few years I realized it was all a big hoax + I can hardly handle chipotle's fresh jalapeno corn salsa!?! Anyways.. I think I could definitely hold my own helping you eat all of that butter chicken + masala + naan with you :)

I am a total baby when it comes to spicy food, but I LOVE indian food. Even when I ask for it super mild it's still usually too spicy for me, but it's worth the pain.

As if you posted about this! When I was in Madrid, a man in the street handed me a flyer for an indian place called Guru, and I am embarrassed to say that we ate there 2 of the three nights we were in Madrid. What can I say- it was that delicious!

I am NOT a spice fan. Fortunately for me, my dad cooks the most incredible spice-less-but-flavoursome curries. Thank goodness for him travelling to India a lot with work! That said, I don't think I could ever get bored of tapas... x

I love spice & I love Indian food. Joe loves the taste of spice but his body rebels. It is equally funny and embarrassing ;)

I love Mexican and Indian food, but I agree I can't take too much spicy food either. This seems like the perfect meal.

When I lived in Dublin, I ate Indian all of the time, like 2-3 times a month all of the time, but not once since living in France. It's one of those things that breaks my heart. But yesterday, I discovered that there is an Indian restaurant that supposed to be pretty good about 25 minutes away from me. So yeah, I'm eating Indian food this weekend :)
